Our Team

Eugenio de Mommio – Founder

How long have you got …. Founder and Volunteer of Live Arico …. Primary carer of our dogs …. Liason with local and National Authorities …. plus much, much more.

After relocating to Tenerife from his Italian home, it was early 1997 when Eugenio rescued his first dog, found whilst looking for one of his own which had wondered off.  He quickly became all too aware of the dire situation of abandonment here on the Island, and turned his back on what could have been a “normal” lifestyle to dedicate his life to the animals.  He lives amongst the dogs and is their primary carer as well as dealing with volunteers, daily callers to the refuge, Police and Authorities.  “Live Arico was born with one wish,” he says, “to help abandoned and mistreated animals.  Tenerife can be better.”

Sue Havenhand – President

My main responsibilities include:

  • Fundraising / Event coordinator
  • Press officer / PR
  • Internet Marketing
  • Adoptions

I have been involved in Live Arico since the autumn of 2007, and it has become an integral part of my life now.  I cannot imagine what I would do with all the spare time I would have on my hands if I was not working for LA.  I care passionately for the dogs and handling just one adoption is rewarding, as is the fundraising and meeting people who care so much.  Onwards and upwards.
