We have a lovely pit bull cross for re-homing, Tyson, who lost all his hair last year following a skin condition. Despite our best efforts the recovery was extremely slow, so the lovely people at Hospivet Sur took him in for some pampering. He has been bathed daily, and aloe vera rubbed into his skin by nurse Irene, who put a collection box in the surgery to help towards his care. The box was cruelly stolen this week, which has left us all a little bit crushed. It really is staggering how low some people will go. Another urgent case is Igra, a three year old girl who was left with us some months ago. Sadly, she is an escapologist and keeps getting over the fences and going back to the home where she used to live. We are worried that she will be knocked down. Could you give her the love she once had?

COME AND HAVE A LAUGH AT OUR COMEDY NIGHT!!!

On Friday the 6th April from 9.30 The Brewers Droop on the Patch, Las Americas will be holding a comedy night in aid of Live Arico. Its looking to be a popular one so be early. Featuring The Crazy World of Avril Taylor, Antony Scott, the Chubby Brown show and Steve Salter, with a charity raffle for our doggies. See you there.

RUN RUN RUNNNNNNN!!!

It’s not too late to sponsor our running team in their efforts at this weekend’s Las Galletas Half Marathon. There is one more on the team, world class vocalist Nick Page, who joins Suzy Q, Tanya Tevaro, Eugenio da Mommio, Tony Bailey and Michaela Bridges, better known as Tina Turner. Following a radio interview on Oasis FM, Michaela was pledged €50 if she would run as Tina, and it’s kind of snowballed. At the time of writing she has almost €700 in sponsorship. Well, it might be a bit unkind but Pitufa does look a bit like one of those!

She is very old but very cute and is hoping to find someone that can give her some good food and excellent company.

Yes, Tano is still hoping for a forever home.

Although we have taken him off the TLC item on our Home page please do not forget about him.

He is a male mixed breed caniche cross, 2 years old.  Some weeks ago he was found knocked down outside the refuge.  He has a broken hip, but is getting better and resting in Hospivet Sur.

He needs a home, affection and attention, can you help?

The Benefit day at Oliver’s Restaurant and Bar in Los Cristianos was very well attended by locals & tourists, a brilliant day of music, song, dancing & fun in the sunshine and all whilst raising money for our Live Arico doggies.

The event was compared by our own Suzy Q & Gordon King, the venue’s usual compare/singer and a fantastic day was had by all.

Along with all the artists who came along & performed, giving their time for free, we were well assisted with our ‘Bling & Designer Clothes’ stall, by our lovely volunteers from our Los Cristianos Charity Shop, Maureen, Brenda, Denise Taylor, Trisha the Los Cris shop Manager, & Siobhan our San Eugenio shop manager.  This is the first time we have brought the outlet of the ’Charity Shops‘ out on the road, but it proved a big success, & we will do it again, where there is room to do so.

Amongst the fund raising efforts were a Jewellery & Designer Clothes stall, a Hand Made Card Display (by local  artist Alison Sturgess), who also takes orders for pet portraits &  gives a  25% donation to Live Arico on each one), a football card, & a raffle with lots of lovely prizes donated by supporters of Live Arico & Oliver’s Restaurant & Bar.

They are based on Calle Caracas on the Poligono Industrial estate in Las Chafiras and their auctions take place every Saturday.

Meet Max.

Max is sad.  He is around 9 years old, and when we look at his history, we see, he spent 18 months in K9, and has since been shunted from pillar to post.  He is so sweet we don’t know why this is.

He is very quiet, and has to be segregated from the bulk of the dogs as they tend to pick on him.  He is lovely.  He needs mountains of TLC and will give mountains of love in return.
